Clayton Sunsets Are Something Else

Downtown Clayton got one hell of a sunset this past Monday night, captured here by council member Amanda Underwood.

These colors show up when the setting sun has to travel through more of the atmosphere, scattering away much of the blue light and leaving the reds, oranges and pinks behind. Around here, the best ones often happen when the western horizon clears after a summer storm but higher clouds remain to catch the light. The more you know.
